Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Informs Knox that due to a string of difficulties he was not able to close the deal with the Brinleys until today. Notes he paid the Brinleys and now has the deed. Also mentions he is sending Knox a pair of does, a buck, some rabbits, and some oats. Mentions he heard deer can be found in North Carolina and Georgia.
