Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Writes to remind Knox of a discussion they previously had regarding lime McCombs wanted to buy from Knox and have delivered to the eastern end of Long Island. Relates that they were unable to work out the logistics of the purchase, but would like to ask again to make arrangements to purchase the lime. Asks what price Knox is requesting, and considers delivery options.
