At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Docket may be in the hand of Henry Knox. Seems to agree to a proposal by which Mrs. Beaumez's children would be taken in to Knox's home temporarily. Discusses some of the financial details. Mentions the issue of her children's inheritance of some of the Waldo patent lands, as well as her receipt of a letter on the subject by Mr. [Christopher] Gore. Hopes he can do right by her children. Mentions the death of a Mr. Russell, as well as issues relating to Mrs. Beaumez traveling with her husband.
