Beaumez relates his troubles for "being borne in France," as the government general in Calcutta wants him to return to America. Beaumez talks about the dangers he faces should he be captured by a French ship. He says that his reputation has allowed him to get an extension to stay for six months.

B. Beaumez, the husband of Sarah Lyons Flucker Beaumez, is most likely Bon-Albert Briois de Beaumez (also spelled "Beaumetz"), a travelling companion of Talleyrand and former President of the French National Constituent Assembly.
