Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Bradford writes Knox that when Knox's daughter is ready, Bradford will travel to Thomaston to accompany her to Wiscasset where he lives. Mentions "Mr. Forsyth's" plans to travel there as well. Bradford says "the court is the second Tuesday in July; at which time, I think Miss K will have a more agreeable visit than at present."
