Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Signed by LeRoy Bayard and Mr. Evers. Discusses business dealings involving Knox, Leroy Bayard, Mr. Evers, Mr. [B.?] Beaumez, [Thomas?] Flucker, and [Francis?] Flucker. Appears Knox advanced money for the Flucker's (Thomas and Francis) passage to London and has now requested the money back. Informs Knox they are unable to return the money but will ask Beaumez's permission to draw for the credit.
