Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Noted as a copy on the docket. Document is not signed but appears to be Henry Knox's handwriting. A receipt for a note from Jonathan Quinby to be paid in three years to Henry Knox for land likely in Maine. Date was taken from the docket. Letter is possibly a draft.
