Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Noted as a "Copy from the Records for Deeds for said County..." A land sale by Knox. Knox vouches he received $116 from Susman Abraham and releases all rights and conveys a tract of land located in Thomaston, Maine to Abraham. A very detailed description of the location and boundaries of the land is also provided. "Attn Tho Price Regm" is noted at the bottom of the letter.
