Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Writes that since Knox has declined to be a candidate for state Congress in the next election, many reputable men in his district are supporting a Mr. Orchard Cook. Provides some of his qualifications, including that he is a Federalist, and asks Knox to write his friends in support of Cook.
