Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Discusses trade between America and India, where he seems to be at present. Also describes their present situation and informs Knox that they are doing well. Date previously inferred, written in pencil.

B. Beaumez, the husband of Sarah Lyons Flucker Beaumez, is most likely Bon-Albert Briois de Beaumez (also spelled "Beaumetz"), a travelling companion of Talleyrand and former President of the French National Constituent Assembly.
