At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 75,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World to soldiers’ letters from World War II and Vietnam. Summary of Content: Two receipts, each signed by Knox in the text, stating that Knox paid his rent, which was £10 for the quarter. The first receipt is dated 16 December 1774 and the second 16 March 1775. Each is also signed by Joseph Ford.
