Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Lists the accounts of disposed goods at various locations. Lists items by type, amount and amount of consumption. Also includes two inventory lists of the amount of goods available, notes regarding goods and cattle and a list of the work done at Brigadier's Island for the month of May. Lists workmen by name, wage and employment.
