At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Unsigned, but author may be Samuel Waldo, Francis Waldo, Isaac Winslow, or Thomas Flucker, as the letter is a response to a letter Bollan wrote to them (see GLC02437.09014). Thank him for going to all the trouble of submitting a petition to His Majesty and the Court for receiving compensation for a portion of land. Are unsure how much of a financial recompense is suitable to pay him, so ask him to mention a sum.
