At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Complete title is "Lots drawn by Thomas Flucker Esqr. in the partition of the Estate of Brigr Genl S. Waldo lying in the Town of Falmouth, made amongst his Heirs 1765." The first portion of the document contains a numbered list of land lots. The second portion of the document, written in the same hand as the first, is labeled "Notes by Samuel Winslow Esqr. Septemr 1797." Contains a variety of notes pertaining to the lots. Several notes are added in the same hand and dated as late as 1799.
