Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Contains descriptions of two townships, "No. 1 in the first Range" and "No. 2 in the first Range." Both descriptions contain information on boundaries and geographical features. The description of township No. 1 features a list of settlers, but the description of No. 2 specifies that there are no settlers in that township.
