Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Bradshaw promises to pay Samuel Waldo ten pounds in "well made, hard-burnt merchantable bricks" to be delivered at Waldo's house in Boston on or before 30 October [1739]. Also signed by Samuel Whittemore.

Possibly refers to Samuel Waldo, Boston merchant and grandfather of Henry Knox's wife Lucy.
