Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Based on a joint account between Winslow and Flucker, Waldo's son-in-law. Also signed by Flucker. A note at the bottom of page one, continuing to page two indicates this account information is pertinent to supplies sent to Waldo's eastern settlements.

Winslow was a merchant who was, according to the Library of Congress, heir to Waldo lands. Samuel Waldo was Lucy Knox's grandfather, and Thomas Flucker was Lucy's father.
