Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Estimates the ammunition needed for several weapons, citing what is on hand at six artillery storage parks. A note at the bottom of the page indicates that the stores at West Point, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania are not included in the estimates contained within this report. Also cites supplies needed, including drag ropes, gunners belts, white rope, twine, and lead aprons, among other items.
