At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Five House resolutions discussing St. Clair's failed expedition against the Indians in Ohio. Absolves St. Clair from the blame of the failure of the expedition. It was not a "consequence of any defective qualitites, or insufficient quatities of arms, accoutrements, or powder or other military stores furnished for the said expedition." Previously estimated date as 1 November. Writing is faded and pages are stained with four water stains. Letterpress copy.
