Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Informs that he does not have any of his brother, Edward Livingston's money and that he has no involvement in his brother's business in France or anywhere else. States that though he has power of attorney he has never acted as such and has assigned the power to General Armstrong. Addressed to Skipworth as the Commercial Agent of the United States at Paris.
