Massachusetts Bay Watertown
July 3rd 1776

Gentleman,
The House having taken into consideration the expediency of declaring the Colonies independant [sic] on Great Britain, have in consequence of its being almost the universal Voice [inserted: of] the Colony which is collected by the Instructions of the Members from their Constituents in every Town which have communicated their instructions, which are by far the greatest number of the towns, that if the Hono ble Continental Congress shall determine on such a measure, this Colony will with their Lives & Fortunes support them in it; since Great Britain have evidenced a determination to persue her sanguinary measures with unremitted ardor to reduce not only this Colony but all America to the most abject Slavery. - This House therefore do by a unanimous Vote submit this letter to be made such use of as you shall think proper.
Timo Danielson [illegible]
To The Hon.ble John Hancock Esq
and others [inserted: The] Delegates of the Colony
