Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

A report on the events of the last two weeks in Upper Silesia. On Aug. 18th, all the Polish businesses in Kattowitz were destroyed. Later there were reports that all villages in the kries had taken up arms. He details all the negotiations that took place in order for them to give up their arms and come to some kind of understanding with Germany.
