At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Mr. Dyson has stated that you would continue to make the Ex-Bashaw of Tripoli a months payment of $200 until you should receive instructions to the contrary.
The Government of Tripoli has promised to make provisions for the support of the Ex-Bashaw; and as soon as it shall be understood at Syracuse that any provision has been made you will discontinue the payment in question.
