Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

The first part is a duplicate of GLC03107.01.01576. Beneath this, Le Heup wrote a second letter, dated 5 August 1724; London, [England]. In this letter Le Heup informs Livingston of some more favorable news regarding Gilbert Livingston's bills.
