At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Cuyler desires Philip to ask Stephanis Groesbeen if he is able to send down the 3 packs of good beaver he requested. If Groesbeen is not able to, Cuyler asks Philip to procure them himself and send them quickly. Philip writes in a note at the bottom of the letter, dated 25 May 1714, that he sent down 2 packs of beaver. Docketed on address leaf.
