Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Wendell asks Robert, Jr. to send him all of the Indian deed and patents for the Manor of Livingston, as he desires to help Robert, Jr. assert his right to the entire Manor. He also states that Robert, Jr.'s son is still ill, but he remains well taken care of.
