Acknowledges that he has received Bryant's letters. Instructs Bryant that if he has not already done so, to send a receipt to Colonel Williams for a six pounder and a carriage that was shipped. Discusses Bryant's continuance at the post, says he wishes Bryant well and will act accordingly. Notes that "the fever still rages and many fall dayly."
Samuel Hodgdon had served as the commissary general of military stores during the American Revolution and a Colonel of military stores in the War Department after the war.
Captain John Bryant was the Deputy Commissary of Military Stores at the Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts.
