Family has received the trunk of extra clothing he has sent home and he responds to a question they asked him about a photograph of a woman that was in the trunk. Says it was merely a photograph he found and kept in hopes of returning it to its owner. The scrap wishes his family a happy new year.

Who the lady is whose likeness you found in said trunk? I found it among the knapsacks at Washington & kept it hoping to find the owner, thinking he would of course value - it as I know I do the like (I have not recd mother's yet perhaps I may get that for New Years present & I could not be better suited.) but I could not find the owner. It's of no value to me. Recd last evening several barrels of apples from families in Connt & I disposed of 8 in a very few moments & 3 more to day. They supply the whole Brigade.
