Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Pages 1-13 glorifies the service of Civil War soldiers, contains a summary of the beginning of the war, tells the history of the organization of the 14th Indiana regiment, and contains copies of early letter's Captain Kelly's which are not included in the collection. Page 14 entitled: "The Cheat Mt. Campaign."
