The first row of soldiers kneels and the second row stands behind them. All the soldiers hold their rifles at their waists, pointed toward the camera. The men wear Western Army style frock coats. A brass [company] letter is pinned to the tops of their caps, although it is indistinguishable in the image. Officers stand slightly to either side of the enlisted men. An officer with a white beard stands in the center, behind the enlisted soldiers.
