Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

A list of Gardner's photographs with titles and indications as to whether they were single or double. Seven pages are present- a cover page and table of contents [pages 12 through 17]. The total on the last page is 1176 photographs. Gardner gave the list to Waud.
