These are to Certify that Joseph Curtis is a Member of the New York Society for promoting the Manumission of Slaves, and protecting such of them ...as have been or may be liberated; Instituted in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five; and Incorporated the nineteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eight, and of the Independence of the United States of America the thirty second.
In Testimony whereof we have affixed our hands, and the Seal of the Society, this twentieth day of February 1812
