Sheet music, including music and lyrics for two verses of the song "The Minstrel Boy." Printed in Baltimore for J. Carr.

Previous circa date was cited as 1860. Research indicates that a J. Carr was involved in printing musical documents in the early 1800s, close to the turn of the century. "The Minstrel Boy" was originally composed by Moore, an Irish poet. It is widely believed that Moore composed the song in remembrance of a number of his friends, whom he met while studying at Trinity College, Dublin and who had participated in (and were killed during) the 1798 rebellion of the United Irishmen. During the American Civil War, the song became a favorite of many Irishmen.
