Published by the M. V. Lynk Publishing House. Contains a photo of Lynk opposite the title page. Includes a section devoted to African American soldiers listed in the regular army, and a section pertaining to African American soldiers who served as volunteers.
Lynk was the first African American physician to open a practice in Madison County, Tennessee. In 1892, Lynk established The Medical and Surgical Observer, the first national medical journal for black physicians. African Americans played a prominent role in the Spanish-American War, participating in the decisive Battle of San Juan Hill in Cuba.
