Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Perkins signs as Lieutenant Colonel of the 19th Regiment. Includes signatures of soldiers in the 19th Regiment. Contains information regarding payment to soldiers between October and December 1864. States that the soldiers were paid 24 March 1865. Includes the names of soldiers who were present and absent, mustered into service, and non-commissioned.
