Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Mentions the route to take for the mail to be delivered and explains why this route is less expensive. Asks Hobart to mention the two routes to the Post Master General and concludes by saying "We depend on you, to render all the assistance in every respect which you may deem necessary."
