Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Discusses the bankruptcy bill, which Holmes opposes. Also discusses a proposed amendment to the Massachusetts Constitution limiting the number of senators from each locale, as well as pending state taxation and election bills, and an amendment to the pauper law.

Abraham R. Holmes was the father of Charles J. Holmes (see GLC06313.148).
