Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Certifies that a deed was given to Wilson and White for land then located in Harrisburg, Texas. The deed had been lost. Date approximated from the period in which Richardson lived in Harrisburg.

Richardson was one of Stephen F. Austin's "Old 300" colonists. He joined the volunteer army under Francis W. Johnson in 1835 and participated in the Grass Fight and the siege of Bexar. He then served as secretary of the meeting held at Chocolate Bayou to elect delegates to the Convention of 1836.
