Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Written at 3:15 PM on a History Sheet from City of New York Department of Welfare. Sylvia claims it is very hot weather. Went to buy food for the luncheon tomorrow. Wishes she could go to the beach instead of the lunch, but will raise needed money. Asks him how his weather is. Maybe, weather-wise it would be best for him to stay there in Oregon.
