Written at the office. Sylvia writes about the thought of him coming home on furlough. Tells him she's arranged for vacation time on a moment's notice. Not to worry, she has saved ration coupons for gasoline for when he comes home.

Dearest - Hello -
I have not written until today because I had been pretty certain from what Mother said that you said on the phone that you would not be in camp to receive my letters. But mother also said that you would probably start out on Tues and would wire me from the train. Giving due consideration to the difference in time element - and not having heard from you by this morning. I have many fears that you have been delayed so here I am.
You could knocked me over with a row of feathers when Mom called me right after your call to tell me the news. Of course with all the optomism [sic] - I still had reservations - I know how the army works - As a matter of fact we have heard that Archie's furlough was cancelled. But with all I was still excited. I called Margie - and I told her not to tell Mom until I had more definite information. But of course how could she keep such news from Mom. Besides Mom would have to get busy cooking - and preparing at least a week in advance. So everyone was happy - even if the plans were not completed for your coming home - we would have the fun of enjoying the prospect - darling - darling - darling - I can't even tell you how I felt about it - So I promptly came into work and notified them that I would have to take my vacation at a moment's notice and it will be arranged. I also told everybody who called me or whom I called - you know why - I couldn't keep the news to myself - I was walking on air - so help [struck: e] me - but gee - I still didn't get the telegram - so I shall wait patiently - I also received your letters of Thurs and Sat. - and enjoyed them immensely -Your Thurs letter probably the most beautiful you have written - or it struck me that way when I read it - I shall hold it for you when you come home - to reread. Wow - it seems funny even to say that - when you come home - You know that I had no expectation - that you would get a furlough before - Sept o[inserted: r] Oct - not because you shouldn't get one - but because I know our break[struck: d]s -
Oh - Well. - I was surprised to note though that you had not asked for the money earlier - because you do mention that Sey R and Francis are already on their way

to N.Y. Now come - or is it by chances -
Don't worry about gas - darling when you come in - I have saved enough ration tickets for just this situation - And I can aw assure you that you will have your free use of the car - I also had it overhauled - so I am all ready - Darling I hope that you will be in soon - I also had to cancel[struck: l] a package from Barracini that I sent to you from Frank Polgar but I will wait to hear from you before I give them the sign to send it on - Gee honey Frank did call one night as I was sitting down to the telephone to - call - guess who - Him - boy was that mental telepathy - as I picked up the receiver I was all prepared to say Hello - Frank - and I did - He sends his best - When I told him that you were coming in next week - he said that he would make it his business to come into the city for at least a few hours to see you - And - received a letter from Leslie - dated 2/27/43. He had been in since as you know - But do you know what - the Queen Mary is in now so we may hear from him this week. Well - darling - I am sending this off anyway and Please God - may I hear from you today - Good news - Please - If not - darling, my love - let me tell you that I will be alright because - I am used to hearing the worst news - you know what mean.
So - dearest - good morning - I love you? What a question.
I DO.
