Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Sylvia is writing on the new writing paper she got for her birthday. She went to see "Watch on the Rhine," reminds Moe that she has already seen the play. Calls this the finest movie she has ever seen. She says that for the first time you see in the movie a discussion of the Spanish War and the Germans and Italians fighting on the side of the Republic.
