Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

V-Mail: Written at work. Sylvia saw a film at work and then they were let go at 1:00 PM because there was no heat. She and a co-worker, Ruth, went to the Brooklyn Paramount and saw Preston Sturges' "The Miracle of Morgan's Creek."
She will be going to the Draft Board again tonight, has a very difficult interview to conduct.
