Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Sylvia's guests have just left and she recounts what their routine was whenever they had company. This was a Sunday and she plans all week what she will get done on Sundays and then does nothing. Got up late and re-packed a package for Moe; because she is afraid of losing film again. Reports on friends and family. Tells him some "off color" jokes, including one about Mrs. Roosevelt.
