One letter from Susan Prowell Graeff and Raymond James Graeff to Leonard Eugene Graeff dated November 24, 1943. Susan writes that she hasn't been feeling well all week. The back pain she mentioned in her last letter spread to her stomach. She went to the doctor and he said it was grippe, she thinks it is just a flu. She has felt better after adopting a liquid diet. She hopes Leonard has a good Thanksgiving dinner. Malinda called and she was having a roast chicken and invited Raymond to dine with her. Raymond went Hagerstown, Maryland to qualify the previous day and she expects him home soon. She thinks Leonard's trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin sounded fun and is glad he enjoyed it. The Readers Digest should be paid for until May, but she is going to check the wrapper on the next one to see if there is anything that indicates it is due. Susan called Mrs. Winemiller and found out Fuzz came home the day after Leonard left and was there for three days. He expects to go to Arizona next. A few welders were drafted from town. She also gives Leonard Dottie's address. The big picture they got was called Swan Lake, it looks great. She asks after the sailor that was pranked by the trash can of grease, and if he got in trouble.

Grippe is another term for influenza.
