Addressed to "Dad + Bee." He is very happy that his father is at "Alderbrook," and says he deserves the rest and relaxation. Nothing new to report. He hasn't flown with his new crew yet due to a sore throat. He notes they're "swell," regardless. He closes the letter telling his father to enjoy the break and "live like a fisherman."

The letter is dated "Sunday." "Letters in a Box," notes the letter was sent on May 21, 1944.

Robert "Bob" Stone was a Bombardier in World War II and served in the Pacific Front. These letters, were compiled by Bob's wife, Sheila M. Stone, and Ali Adair into a book named Letters in a Box. This book details Bob's service to his country, and his life after the war. Bob's letters were donated to the collection by his wife, Sheila M. Stone, in 2017. It contains a variety of letters, postcards, patches, pins, photographs, and scrapbooks that relate to Bob's training and combat missions.

Dear Dad & Bee -
I can't tell you how happy I was to hear that you are at Alderbrook. I'm sure that the rest and relaxation are something that you've needed for a long time. Who knows, maybe a good dose of Alderbrook is just what the doctor ordered.
Nothing new here except that I'm on a really swell crew. The pilot, co-pilot, and navigator are all tops. I haven't flown with them yet because I've had a bad throat and have been grounded all week. It's lots better now and I ought to be O.K. in a few days.
I really have nothing more

to write but I did want you to know that all goes well with R.L.S. Have yourselves a swell time at Alderbrook and don't spare the "big ones." I surely envy you being able to remove the uniform and live like a fisherman for a couple of weeks.
Have fun!
All love -
Bobby
