At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One pamphlet entitled, "Tuskegee Community Council Year Book," dated 1941. This item served the purpose of periodically updating the concerns of the community as well as organization efforts to address and issues. Also included is a history of the Tuskegee community and lists all names of businesses and clubs within the city.
