At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One Wire photograph released by Associated Press dated June 25, 1958. Shows a drawing of the world's largest sub named the Triton. According to the press release in the photo the Triton will displace 5,450 Tons, be 447 feet long and has a beam of 37 feet. The Triton is also powered by two Nuclear reactors. The back of the photo is stamped with Associated Press information
