Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Petition regarding the settling of the eastern lands and relations with the Indians. Include two notes, the first dated 13 May 1738 which includes a list an additional list of names to the original group of petitioners and the second dated Falmouth 19 May 1738 from Joshua Moody, also with a list of names.
