The collection contains two broadsides discussing the recruitment of African American troops, two cards inviting Alberger to attend military dinners, and correspondence from Buffalo Sheriff R. H. Best to Alberger regarding suppression of city riots and attendance at an Independence Day celebration. The collection also includes two notices from Buffalo's freemason lodge notifying Alberger of meetings. The content of the bound scrapbook has not been inventoried.

William C. Alberger was born circa 1838 in New York. As a resident of Buffalo, New York, Alberger served as a Captain of the New York National Guard circa 1862.
