Emancipating Charlotte Robinson, as ordered in the will of Dr. George D. Spatt. Signed by Thomas M. Locke and Carter B. Berkeley, executors of the will of George Spratt. Also signed by George D. Nicolson, John Minor, Thomas Muse and Mr. Chew.

By virtue of power vested in us by the will of the late Doct. George D. Spratt, We the subscribers Executors and trustees under the said will, do hereby Emancipate, manument [sic] and forever liberate Charlotte alias Charlotte Robinson, a mulattoe [sic] woman - late a slave of the said Doct. George D. Spratt, and we do hereby declare the said Charlotte and her future increased forever free and Emancipated. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 19th day of July 1808.

At a court held for Middlesex county at the Courthouse in Urbanna on monday the 25th day of July 1808. This Deed of Emancipation was in open Court proved to be the act and deed of the said Executors and Trustees by the oaths of Carter B. Berkeley and Thomas M. Locke two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
